Creative Assembly is adding four End Times figures to Total War: Warhammer III, lowering the entry barrier for its grand strategy campaign mode in the process.
Four new characters and entry changes
The expansion pack, titled Lords of the End Times, releases on 24 September 2026. It features four main Legendary Lords: Grey Seer Thanquol, the Glottkin, Nagash, and Boris Todbringer. Players can purchase these characters individually or together as a complete bundle.
Alongside the headline characters, the release includes 23 battle units (such as Verminlords and the Celestial Hurricanum), 8 Legendary Heroes, 5 Lords and Heroes, and 12 Regiments of Renown.
The update also alters how players access Immortal Empires. Previously, playing the world-spanning sandbox campaign required owning earlier entries in the Total War: Warhammer trilogy. Under the new model, purchasing any portion of the Lords of the End Times DLC grants immediate access to Immortal Empires within Total War: Warhammer III, eliminating the need to buy prior games.
Free updates and faction reworks
A concurrent free update adds Neferata, the Vampire Queen, as a fifth Legendary Lord. Her addition accompanies a broader rework of the Vampire Counts faction aimed at revising their core campaign mechanics.
Archaon the Everchosen is also receiving expanded campaign mechanics to align with the End Times theme. Additionally, Creative Assembly is introducing three new endgame challenge scenarios across campaigns: Chaos Invasion, Vermintide, and Nagash Rises.
Campaign impact for players
For players who focus on Undead or Skaven factions, this release addresses long-standing gaps in the roster. Nagash and Thanquol have been central lore figures throughout Warhammer Fantasy Battles, and their inclusion provides dedicated campaign objectives focused on late-era End Times scenarios.
The decision to decouple Immortal Empires from legacy game purchases makes the sandbox campaign far more accessible to players who joined the series with the third instalment.
