Ghazghkull Thraka will function as an independent leader with Lone Operative in the upcoming Ork codex, leading a series of datasheet revisions previewed by Games Workshop. The update details changes to statlines, mission interactions, and weapon profiles across several core Ork units.
Character and Elite Infantry Revisions
Ghazghkull Thraka has received an increased Toughness characteristic to align his durability with other major Ork characters like Nazdreg. Rather than attaching to infantry squads as a direct unit leader, Ghazghkull operates similarly to a Primarch. He gains the Lone Operative ability when positioned near friendly units and projects an aura called Prophet of da Great Waaagh! His ranged weapon, Mork's Roar, gains a Torrent profile, alongside a once-per-game ability.
Nobz squads have been updated to three Wounds per model. Their primary melee weapon options have been consolidated into a single profile called kustom krumpas, which replicates the rules profile previously used for power klaws.
Infantry Roles and Weapon Keywords
Standard Ork Boyz feature the Never Too Busy to Fight rule. This allows them to perform mission actions while remaining engaged on forward objectives, shifting their role away from holding home-tier objectives. In addition, shootas and equivalent weapons gain the Lethal Hits ability when targeting units that lack the Monster or Vehicle keywords.
The Hunter Weapon Mechanic
The preview introduced Hunter profiles, a mechanic that limits specific weapon stats to designated target types. Busta rokkit launchas on Tankbustas and melee weapons on Beast Snaggas both use Hunter: Monster/Vehicle profiles, restricting their peak weapon effectiveness strictly to those unit types.
For army building, these updates clarify the roles of core units. Boyz are structured to contest active midfield objectives rather than sit idle on rear zones. Specialist units like Tankbustas provide high damage against heavy targets, but the restricted Hunter profiles require players to bring generalist units to handle conventional infantry.
