The Ur-Phoenix is a legendary godbeast of the Mortal Realms, a colossal firebird of the Realm of Fire whose life, death and endless rebirth embody the eternal cycle of flame and renewal. From its ashes are said to descend the sacred phoenixes venerated by certain aelven orders and the flame-priests of Aqshy.
In the myths of the realms, the Ur-Phoenix rose during the Age of Myth as an incarnation of purifying fire, a creature whose passing scours corruption and whose rebirth kindles hope anew. Its feathers are living flame, its cry a roar of conflagration, and where it soars, the old and the tainted are burned away to make room for the new. Even in death it does not truly perish, for from its embers a new phoenix always climbs.
Such godbeasts are objects of worship, dread and ambition. The cities-of-sigmar count phoenix-temples among their oldest institutions, while darker powers covet the beast's undying flame. The Ur-Phoenix endures as a symbol that even in the grimmest age, renewal follows ruin.
