The Grey College is the order of the Colleges of Magic devoted to Ulgu, the Lore of Shadow. Its wizards, called Shadowmages or Grey Wizards, wield the murky wind of magic that gathers in mist, fog, and half-light, mastering illusion, misdirection, and stealth. The college itself is famously difficult to find, its shifting halls veiled from the unwary within the streets of Altdorf in the Empire of Man.
Grey Wizards are subtle and secretive, comfortable in the world of spies and hidden dealings. In battle they conjure walls of shadow, deceive the enemy with phantom hosts, and slip unseen to strike at foes' minds. Many serve the Empire as agents and confidants, gathering intelligence where a soldier could never tread.
Established under Magnus the Pious with the guidance of the elf loremaster Teclis, the Grey College stands among the eight sanctioned orders, its shadowy adepts trusted with the secrets that keep the Empire safe.
