Inquisitor

An Inquisitor is an agent of the Imperial Inquisition, the shadowy body charged with rooting out threats to humanity from within and without. Wielding almost limitless authority, an Inquisitor can requisition armies, override planetary governors, and condemn entire worlds to destruction if they judge the danger great enough. Few dare question their word, for to obstruct an Inquisitor is often to invite the same fate reserved for the guilty.

Inquisitors operate with striking independence, answering to their own conscience and to the broad ideological factions, called Ordos, that structure their order. The Ordo Malleus hunts daemons, the Ordo Hereticus pursues heretics and rogue psykers, and the Ordo Xenos confronts alien menaces. Beyond these lie countless smaller conclaves and philosophies, some at bitter odds with one another.

A single Inquisitor typically travels with a retinue of specialists, warriors, and unusual allies gathered over a long career. They count among the most feared of all Imperial Agents, trusted with secrets that could unravel society were they ever revealed. Their methods range from patient investigation to ruthless purges, and their moral outlook may be austere and traditionalist or dangerously radical. In an Imperium riddled with hidden corruption, the Inquisitor is both its sharpest blade and its most terrifying watchman.
