The tesla carbine is a Necron energy weapon that looses living arcs of lightning at the foe. A single bolt leaps to its target and then, as though hungering, jumps onward to others nearby, chaining from body to body so that one shot may fell a whole knot of warriors in a crackling web of green fire.
Tesla weapons channel an energy that seems almost alive, arcing with a will of its own toward anything that will conduct it. This makes the carbine wildly effective against massed troops, for a shot that finds one target will hunt out three more before it dies. The lightning cares little whether a victim is armoured or bare; it simply overloads flesh and machine alike, frying nerves and circuits in the same searing instant.
It arms the swift Immortals and the skimming constructs of the Necrons, whose deathless patience is matched by the weapon's careless savagery. There is no aiming a tesla weapon with any precision; one looses the storm and lets it find its own victims, trusting the arc to seek out prey the shooter never even saw. Against a packed enemy formation it is devastating, and it rarely goes hungry — another expression of the Necrons' cold, mechanical certainty that all life is theirs to switch off at will. There is something deeply unsettling in a weapon that kills almost as an afterthought, its lightning wandering from victim to victim with the idle malice of a thing that has all of eternity in which to do its work.
