The Grav-Cannon is a fearsome artefact of half-remembered science, a heavy weapon that turns the fundamental force of gravity itself into an instrument of annihilation. Rather than hurling projectiles, it projects focused fields that multiply a target's own mass a thousandfold, crushing warriors within their armour and buckling tanks as though a mountain had settled upon them.
The weapon is cruelly ironic in its function, for the stronger and more heavily protected a foe, the more surely the Grav-Cannon destroys them. Where a lasgun might scratch harmlessly against a terminator's plate, the gravitic pulse uses that very armour as a weapon, driving it inward to pulp the warrior sealed within. Among the space-marines it is a favoured tool of Devastator squads tasked with breaking enemy elites and grinding armoured columns to ruin.
So esoteric is the technology that few tech-priests fully comprehend its workings, and the patterns that survive are relics of a more enlightened age. Each Grav-Cannon is maintained with reverent care, its inner mechanisms a mystery even to those who bless them. To witness its use is to see the enemy simply cease, folded and broken by an unseen hand, their strength turned traitor against them in the crushing silence of the void.
