The Crozius Arcanum is at once a weapon and a holy symbol, the winged mace borne by the Chaplains of the Space Marines as the emblem of their spiritual authority. Its haft is a rod of office, its head sheathed in a crackling disruptive field that caves in armour and pulps flesh with each thunderous, sanctified blow.
To the Chaplain, the crozius is inseparable from his calling. He raises it to lead the battle-prayers that steel his brothers' hearts, and he brings it down to smite the enemies of the Emperor, its energy-wreathed strike a benediction written in ruin. Where the crozius flashes, the faithful surge forward and the faithless are broken, for it embodies the wrath of the Chapter's spiritual conscience made manifest.
Each crozius is a treasured relic, often ancient, its wings and iconography wrought by master artificers and passed reverently from one Chaplain to the next. It is maintained not merely as a weapon but as a reliquary of the Chapter's faith, blessed in solemn rite and carried into the darkest battles as both cudgel and cross. To fall beneath the crozius is to be judged and found wanting by the Emperor's own herald.
