The Chainaxe marries the cleaving heft of an axe to the ravening teeth of a chain weapon, its motorised blade a snarling ring of adamantium that rends armour and rips flesh into gory tatters. Heavier and more savage than a chainsword, it is a weapon built not for finesse but for the raw, visceral joy of butchery.
Above all it is the tool of the Chaos Space Marines, and none love it more than the blood-maddened berserkers who worship the God of Slaughter. In their grip the chainaxe becomes an altar upon which skulls are offered, its roar rising with their war-cries as they hew a red path through the enemy line, heedless of wound or fear, drunk on carnage and the promise of their patron's favour.
The weapon suits its wielders in cruelty as much as function, for it kills slowly and messily, tearing rather than cutting, leaving ruin where a cleaner blade would grant a swift end. Daubed in gore and inscribed with the dark runes of the Ruinous Powers, the chainaxe is a hymn to violence for its own sake, a snarling testament to warriors who have traded their souls for the endless satisfaction of the kill.
