The Schola Progenium is the network of Imperial institutions that raises and educates the orphaned children of the Emperor's most devoted servants. When a soldier, official, or hero of the Imperium dies in the line of duty, their surviving offspring, called progena, are gathered up and delivered into the care of these austere schools.
Run under the auspices of the Ecclesiarchy, the Schola instils in its charges an unshakeable faith in the Emperor, rigorous discipline, and absolute loyalty to the Imperium above all other bonds. Stripped of family and forged by a harsh regimen of devotion and drill, progena emerge as some of the most steadfast and fanatical servants the Imperium possesses, their characters hammered into unbending shape.
The graduates of the Schola Progenium fill many of the most trusted roles in Imperial society. From its halls come the fearsome commissars who enforce discipline in the Astra Militarum, the battle-sisters of the Adepta Sororitas, storm troopers, confessors, and countless officials besides. In this way the Schola turns the tragedy of orphanhood into a wellspring of zealots, ensuring that the Imperium's grief is repaid in a harvest of loyal servants.
