The Plaguebearer is the tallyman of Nurgle, a shambling daemon born from the souls of those who perish in the grip of the Plague God's diseases. Bloated and rotting, with a single cyclopean eye and a body split by weeping sores, it counts endlessly upon its fingers, tallying every new contagion loosed upon the galaxy in service to its grandfather's grim accounting.
Despite their pitiful, decaying appearance, Plaguebearers are relentless and all but impossible to destroy. They feel no pain, and their putrid flesh knits back together even as it is hacked apart, sustained by the sheer resilience that Nurgle gifts to his children. In their hands they carry rusted plagueswords, whose filth-crusted edges infect the smallest wound with a hundred lethal maladies.
Marching in droning, buzzing ranks amid clouds of flies, these daemons spread despair as surely as sickness. Conjured among the wider legions of the Chaos Daemons, the Plaguebearer embodies Nurgle's twisted love, a promise that all things must rot, and that in decay there is a terrible, eternal peace.
