The Death Company is the tragic heart of the Blood Angels and their successor Chapters, a formation of the doomed who have succumbed to the Black Rage. These warriors, overwhelmed by the death-memories of their fallen Primarch Sanguinius, relive his final battle against the arch-traitor Horus, lost forever to a fury that no reason can reach.
Painted black and marked with blood-red crosses, the Death Company charge into battle heedless of wounds, driven by an insatiable need to destroy. Their brothers do not abandon them, for these lost souls are still counted among the Space Marines and honoured for the sacrifice they represent. A Chaplain leads them, sharing in their madness so that their final rampage might be turned against the enemies of the Emperor.
There is no cure for the Black Rage, only the mercy of a warrior's death. The Death Company fight until they fall, and those who survive a battle are gently gathered up, tended and released once more when the killing calls them. They are the price the sons of Sanguinius pay for their gene-father's glory.
