The Carnifex is a living battering ram grown by the Hive Mind, a vast and heavily armoured monstrosity whose sole purpose is to smash through the enemy's strongest defences. Its hunched, muscle-bound body is sheathed in chitin thick enough to shrug off cannon fire, and its limbs terminate in scything talons, crushing claws or bio-cannons that can gut a battle tank in a single pass.
Though it possesses little in the way of intelligence, the Carnifex needs none, for it is guided toward the foe by the greater synaptic will of the swarm. Once set upon its target it becomes an unstoppable engine of destruction, goring, trampling and rending anything in its path. Warriors of the Imperium have emptied entire magazines into a charging Carnifex only to be crushed beneath its bulk moments later.
Bred in countless variants by the Tyranids, the Carnifex is deployed wherever brute force is required to breach a wall, shatter a formation or clear a path for the endless broods behind it. It is a monster grown for one thing alone, and it performs that grim task with terrible efficiency.
