The Slayers are a doomed cult of Dwarfen warriors who, having suffered some unbearable shame, disgrace, or loss, forswear their old lives and seek an honourable death in battle against the mightiest of foes. Marked by their crested manes of dyed orange hair, tattooed bodies, and disdain for armour, they wander the world hunting ever-greater monsters in the hope of finding their doom.
A dwarf who takes the Slayer Oath abandons clan, craft, and kin, for the shame that drove him to it can only be expunged in death. To die slaying a great beast, a dragon, or a daemon is the highest honour a Slayer can achieve, and their deeds are recorded in mournful sagas. To survive against the odds is a curse, driving them ever onward to seek deadlier prey.
Ranked by their infamy as Troll Slayers, Giant Slayers, and Dragon Slayers, these grim wanderers are feared and pitied in equal measure, their tragic devotion a stark expression of dwarfen honour and unyielding pride.
