When the old world died and its broken core drifted through the void as Mallus, some fragments fell burning into the Realm of Light. From one such splinter the mage-priests wrought the Spear of Mallus, sheathing the last, cold memory of a slain planet in a lattice of captured sunlight. It is said the weapon remembers the world's final scream, and that the sound lives on in the keening it makes when hurled.
The Lumineth Realm-lords revere it as both weapon and reliquary, for to wield it is to bear witness to an ending older than the realms themselves. Its point pierces daemon-hide and Chaos-ward alike, and where it strikes, the corruption of the Dark Gods is burned back to clean stone. Aelf-scholars warn that the spear is not truly theirs to command, only to carry.
More than one wielder has been undone by the grief within the shard, hurling the spear in a fey rage and then wandering the mountains half-mad, mourning a home they never knew. The mystics of Hysh guard it jealously, passing it hand to hand across the centuries, for they believe that on the day the last splinter of Mallus is spent, the world-that-was will at last be truly, wholly dead.
