A Squig, short for squiggly beast, is one of the strange fungal creatures that share the peculiar biology of the Orks. Born from the same spores that give rise to the greenskins themselves, squigs come in a bewildering variety of forms, each seemingly bred by nature to serve some purpose in the raucous, violent ecosystem of Ork society.
Some squigs are little more than walking mouths, bred for eating; others provide food, drink, hair, or teeth-cleaning for their Ork masters. There are attack squigs that hurl themselves at foes with gnashing fangs, squig hounds used for hunting, and even great bounding beasts large enough to be ridden into battle. Wherever Orks flourish, squigs multiply alongside them, part of the self-sustaining fungal cycle that lets the greenskins colonise any world.
To an Ork, squigs are simultaneously livestock, tools, weapons, and companions, an endlessly useful resource that asks only to be fed and pointed at something to bite. They are as much a part of the Waaagh! as the choppa and the shoota.
