The Elven Pantheon

Asuryan

King of the elven gods, Asuryan is the aloof lord of creation and fire, whose sacred flame anoints the Phoenix Kings of the elves.

Asuryan is the supreme god of the elves, king and creator among their ancient pantheon, lord of fire, wisdom, and the very act of creation. Remote and unfathomable, he is worshipped with awe rather than love, for he is a god so vast and aloof that even the other deities of the elves are said to bow before him. From his will, the elves believe, the world itself was first ordered.

His most sacred rite endures upon the Isle of the Flame in the High Elf Realms, where the Phoenix Kings of Ulthuan must pass through the white-hot Flame of Asuryan to claim their crown. Those found worthy emerge unburned and blessed; the unworthy are consumed utterly. By this trial the god himself is said to judge who shall rule the elven people.

Though the sundered kindreds of the elves have gone their separate and bitter ways, Asuryan is honoured, in some form, by them all. To the high elves he is the pinnacle of order and enlightenment; even among the Dark Elves, who spurn the gentler gods, his supremacy is grudgingly acknowledged, for none may deny the king of heaven.

Asuryan offers no comfort and asks no friendship. He is the cold, perfect flame at the summit of creation, a god of such transcendent majesty that to look upon him fully would unmake a mortal mind, and the elves revere him as the first and highest of all.
